Lactation care is mandated to be covered under most insurance plans per the Affordable Care Act but the companies vary in terms of how they approach the mandate. We are in network with Aetna, United Health Care, Cigna, and WellPoint. Otherwise, we are considered out to network providers, however, many insurance companies (BCBS of MA, Tufts, MGB, Harvard Pilgrim) will typically reimburse families without any problem. Please verify with your insurance company and ask about their policy and process regarding reimbursement of lactation support for an out of network provider. After our visit, I will provide you with a receipt/superbill that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. I cannot guarantee reimbursement.
